Shawntae Marie Sloan
1982 - 2025
On September 19, 1982 a beautiful daughter was born to Julius Boaz Sloan and Elaine Sloan (Leathers), in Tulsa, OK. They named her Shawntae Marie Sloan. She was the baby of 12
to this blended union of JB and Elaine. She carried that title well! Her parents and sister Theresa Lankster, niece Bryshel Downing, special father Solomon Lankster and Kirk Harris (spouse) preceded her in death.
Shawntae attended Tulsa Public schools and went on to receive her CNA, CMA certifications and LPN license from Platt College. Shawntae excelled in her duties taking great care of residents and patients. Shawntae also served as a Corrections officer at David L Moss.
Shawntae was full of love and laughter. She was a mother of two amazing children, Markeisha and James Sloan, whom she adored. She enjoyed gatherings with family and friends and spending time with her beautiful grandchildren, Jah’Miyah and James Sloan Jr and 3 bonus grandchildren. She found great joy in spending time with her nieces and nephews, she was someone you would call forever young. Patient, kind, giving, joyful, and easy going are just a few of her amazing qualities.
Shawntae’s personality was expressed beautifully by the way she carried herself and her fashion sense. You would hardly ever catch her without her hair, nails, makeup, fashionable clothing and accessories. Keeping herself up was very important to her. Shawntae loved to travel and enjoyed doing that with Peaches and Buffy the twins. Shawntae was babied by her big sisters Terri and Ressie. She made great memories with her brother Jr and later in life got to know her big brother Reggie, who was very helpful to her.
During the last months of her life as she grew weak, her family was there to assist with her needs. The Rivercross Hospice team and the staff at Porta Caeli House were so very supportive of her and our family. Sadly in the early morning hours of October 7, 2025 she lost her battle with cancer. Her daughter Markeisha and other family members were there as she took her last breath. She wasn’t alone. For that the family is grateful. Shawntae looked forward to and believed in the hope of the resurrection promised at Acts 24:15, when she will be reunited with her family.
Shawntae leaves behind to cherish her memory, children Markeisha Sloan and James Sloan sisters Terri Maxey (Kief), Tramikka and Chamikka Sloan, Laura Blades, Betty Mosley, Louise Sanders, JoAnn Stipiln, Detra Walker, brothers Julius Boaz Sloan Jr and Reginald Wallace. Beautiful grandchildren, Aunts, Beaulah Childs, Joyce Herring, Jean Galloway and Uncle, Leon Leathers. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, her boyfriend Donnell Thierry, and many, many friends.
Acts 24:15 And I have hope toward God, which hope these men also look forward to, that there is going to be a resurrection of both the righteous and the unrighteous.
Revelation 21:3-4 With that I heard a loud voice from the throne say: Look! The tent of God (Jehovah) is with mankind, and he will reside with them, and they will be his people. And God himself will be with them. And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will morning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.
