Jack Ed Cartwright
1953 - 2025
Jack Ed Cartwright was one of those easy to like, easy to love, intelligent, free spirited people that his friends and family had the privilege to enjoy by simply being around him.
Jack was born in Muskogee, Oklahoma on October 11, 1953 to Big Jim and Betty Joyce Cartwright. Jack Ed grew up in Muskogee where he attended elementary, Jr. High, and High School, where he met most of his life-long friends. Jack entered into the United States Air Force in the fall of 1971, after graduating high school. He served three years, eight months, and four days, and was then honorably discharged from the service.
After a short time back in Muskogee, Jack Ed moved to California where most of the Cartwright Family was living. After seven years of working and enjoying family out there he moved back to Oklahoma.
Jack Ed worked, lived, and enjoyed life with friends and family. Then was OU Football! Jack was one of the longstanding, biggest OU fans of all time! Anyone who knew Jack, knew that for sure. You can be sad for Jack Ed, but, be joyful, cause he’s dancing up in Heaven.
Jack Ed is preceded in death by Pa CoCo, Mamaw and Papaw, and Jim and Betty Joyce. He is survived by Jeff, Janay, Jennifer, and Austin.
In lieu of flowers, wear something that represents OU and/or go eat a Chet’s Hot Dog and remember.
A service to honor Jack and his time in the Air Force will be held at
10:00 am, Wednesday, July 9, 2025
at Fort Gibson National Cemetery,
1423 Cemetery Rd, Fort Gibson, OK 74434
Knowing Jack means you’ll never really lose him as his genuine kindness and incredible smile are everlasting gifts. He was the Will Rogers of this Muskogee, Oklahoma generation, never meeting a stranger and always sharing a kind word given unconditionally. He touched the hearts of so many from the MHS Class of 1971. A true forever friend. - Pam Montgomery Hodge
Thank you for your service. - Dee Dunn
Jack was an integral part of the MHS Class of 1971. Everyone loved him. He will be missed. - Melony Carey
Jack and my dad Greg Webb have always been best buds! Anytime I got to see Jack he’d shake my hand and give me a big ol hug and ask how I was doing. Then I would sit and listen as those two would chuckle and trade stories of old times. Seeing them laugh and remember always made me smile. I’m sorry for Jack’s earthly family and friends who will miss him. Loss is painful. But I rejoice that we will see him again, that he’s not gone, but more alive than he has EVER been in the presence of our Savior Jesus Christ and all the saints! - Talya McCormick
Jeff as you know Jack and family was always a friend of ours RIP - John Stevenson
