Billy Joe Wilkerson, age 85, passed away peacefully on June 2, 2025. Born on October 26, 1939, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Billy was the son of Elmer "Buck" Wilkerson and Willie Wilkerson. He spent his life rooted in Oklahoma, surrounded by family, friends, and the simple joys he held dear.
Billy proudly served his country in the United States Army, a time in his life he spoke of with honor and humility. His service exemplified the quiet strength and dedication that defined him.
Following his time in the military, Billy worked for over 15 years at Southwest Filter, where he made oil filters—a job he took great pride in and where he built lasting friendships. Outside of work, he was a man of passions. Billy was an avid NASCAR fan, cheering on his favorite drivers with excitement. He found peace in the outdoors, enjoying countless days spent hunting and fishing.
Billy also had a love for playing pool and could often be found at the table with friends, sharing stories and laughter. Above all else, Billy loved his family. He had a special bond with his niece Brandi, her husband Mickey, and their baby, who brought him immeasurable joy in his later years.
Billy Joe Wilkerson will be remembered for his loyalty, gentle spirit, and the warmth he brought to those around him. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Billy will be laid to rest with military honors at Fort Gibson National Cemetery, a fitting tribute to a life of service, love, and quiet dignity.
