Tramel Dejuan Thornton was born on November 14, 1987, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to Erica Thornton and the late Deadric Goulsby. Raised with love and guidance, Tramel's life was enriched by the presence of his stepfather, Jerry Ellis, who played a significant role in shaping the man he became.
Tramel's early education was rooted in the Tulsa Public Schools system. He later graduated in 2007 from Broadmoor High School in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. During his high school years, Tramel's athletic prowess shone brightly as he earned the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award in football, a testament to his dedication and skill on the field.
Following high school, Tramel pursued higher education and successfully completed an associate degree, further equipping himself to serve others through his professional endeavors.
Beyond academics and sports, Tramel was a man of diverse interests and talents. He found joy in fishing and hunting, activities that connected him to nature and provided moments of reflection. His love for dancing and music showcased his vibrant spirit, and his skills as a great swimmer highlighted his versatility. Those who knew him often spoke of his radiant smile, a reflection of his warm and welcoming nature.
Professionally, Tramel dedicated himself to the well-being of others as a Physical Therapist Assistant. In this role, he combined his compassion with expertise, aiding countless individuals on their paths to recovery and improved health.
Tramel's most cherished role was that of a father. He leaves behind his beloved daughters, Ziona and Erica Thornton, who were the light of his life and the embodiment of his hopes for the future.
On May 6, 2025, Tramel departed this world, leaving behind a legacy of love, resilience, and kindness. He was preceded in death by his father, Deadric Goulsby; his grandparents, Howard Thornton Sr., Helen Thornton, and Barbara Goulsby; and his cousin, Stephanie Doyle.
Tramel's memory is lovingly preserved by his daughters, Ziona, Erica and Tramelia; his mother, Erica Thornton; his stepfather, Jerry Ellis; his siblings, Eric and Shantoria Thornton, Jerry Ellis Jr., Antonia Nolan, Iesha Ellis, Jeremy Ellis, Nisha Ellis, Christian Harbin, Monica McHenry, Deadric Goulsby, and Erin Gizzler; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family, and friends.
In remembering Tramel, we celebrate a life marked by passion, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to those he loved. His spirit continues to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him.
