“I Am Somebody”

Frankie Jean Hurd-Barnett

September 12, 1959 - January 13, 2026

Frankie was born September 12, 1959, in El Paso, Texas to Stanley B Hurd, Sr., and Queen Ester (McDuffie) Hurd. Frankie went home to be with Jesus from her home at Grace Living Center, in Jenks, Oklahoma.

Frankie was a certified Nurse Assistant in California and Oklahoma with 13 years’ experience combined. She was also CPR, first aid, and AED certified. She had four years’ experience with the mentally challenged and 25 years’ experience as a housekeeper. She was also a licensed security guard trained by the Elite Guards of San Diego, California. She was also trained on various types of heavy equipment with the United States Navy from 1986 to 1989. She graduated from McLain Senior High School in 1977 on the Dean’s Honor Roll.

Frankie was married for about 10 years, however, from that union there were no children. She never remarried. She is survived by her siblings, Gloria A Hurd-Davis, of Tulsa, Walter Hurd, of Arlington, Texas, Wayne Hurd, of Marietta, Georgia, Wallace H. “Skip” Hurd, of Tulsa, Stella M Hurd-Parker, of Tulsa, and May E Hurd-Ford, of Atlanta, Georgia. She also leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews, as well as many other relatives and friends who will dearly miss her, as well as her beloved dog, Judah.

Frankie was preceded in death by her parents, Stanley B. Hurd and Queen Ester McDuffie-Hurd; her brothers, Willie C. Hurd and Stanley Hurd, Jr.

Frankie’s heart was for God and the lost. She would constantly write of her love for Jesus in her journals and on any scrap of paper lying around. Jesus was constantly in her thought. Her sister Gloria came across one of her thoughts that she put in one of her journals; it read, “A sinful woman…redeemed by the precious Blood of Jesus Christ. This world…one big classroom – each person a student; the Lord, the Merciful Master and Teacher. Every person will get a “diploma” at the appointed time…what will yours read…PASS or FAIL??”

Some of Frankie’s favorite activities were watching old movies from the 80’s, 90’s, some 2000’s, and going with her big sister (Gloria) to the casino and eat the great food from the 60’s at restaurants that were “old school.” She also liked walking her dog, Judah, around the apartment complex where she lived. She loved getting her hair done by her brother Skip’s wife, Mrs. Rose Esther Bell-Hurd, who gave such her such awesome styles that Frankie loved to show off to others. Her brother Skip would go over and help her by fixing or moving things in her apartment. When Frankie got sick and had to be put in a skilled nursing unit (Ignite), it was her oldest and favorite niece, Neeko Nachelle Hurd-McColley and the CNAs she worked with who showed her love, compassion, and professionalism in caring for her. She loved seeing her niece Neeko come to see her everyday and love on her with hugs and encouragement in the Lord and kept her abreast of her health condition, as Frankie was very inquisitive and didn’t understand a lot about what was going on and how the insurance she had would help her at that particular facility.

At the last place she would ever be, Grace Living Center, was where Jesus took her home. At Grace Living Center, Frankie had staff there who loved and took care of her. Jesus made sure the love she needed in her condition was there at Grace Living Center that had hearts sold out to Jesus. Thank you so much Christian, Alysia, Shaun, Cassidy, Tif’nee, Renika, and Tina – all these professional and loving people talked to Gloria on a regular basis and eased her mind in the case of her sister. They also loved on her, took care of her basic needs when she no longer could, and encouraged her with the love of Jesus. When it was time for her to go on Hospice, the staff at Grace Living Center never stopped their care, love, and encouragement.

Frankie’s kindness, strength, and love for God will live on the those who knew and loved her! Farewell Sis, until we meet again in the Kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!
