Bartholomew Daichi Reust
October 17, 1991 - September 13, 2024
Bartholomew Daichi Reust, passed away Friday, September 13, 2024 after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on October 17, 1991, to Randy and Keiko (Watanabe) Reust in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He attended Memorial High School, where he played baseball as a pitcher for the Chargers, and his love for the game continued as a dedicated fan of the Boston Red Sox, which coincidentally started around the time when the team broke the Curse of the Bambino.
After high school, Daichi pursued an associate degree in psychology at Tulsa Community College. His professional journey took him to FedEx, where he worked for 10 years, rising to a managerial position. Then, he joined GoPuff as a manager, where his dedication continued until his health made it impossible to work.
On December 7, 2012, Daichi married Anastasia, and his life was forever changed with the arrival of their first daughter, Emma, on April 11, 2013. His second daughter, Nora, was born on October 23, 2017, adding further joy to his life. Daichi was a wonderful father, known for his unwavering love and dedication to his family. He delighted in sharing jokes, and would often make those around him smile by performing magic tricks, a love inherited and shared with his dad, Randy.
Though Daichi and Anastasia’s paths eventually diverged, he later met Emylee while working at GoPuff, but really, they found each other, and together they shared a deep connection, supporting one another until his final days.
One of his favorite things in the world was being able to go to Galveston and be at his parents' house. He loved being there, with them, indulging in seafood and creating memories with his family. His father was a central figure in his life, and Randy's passing in June 2024 was difficult for Daichi.
Daichi shared a special bond with his brother, Ben, who was not only his sibling but also one of his closest friends. Their childhood was filled with playful wrestling matches inspired by their favorite WWE stars, with Daichi often taking on the role of The Undertaker. This love for wrestling became a cherished activity he later shared with his daughters.
A fan of comic books, Daichi admired heroes like Batman and the Green Lantern, and his own life mirrored the traits of a true Green Lantern—courage, imagination, and inexhaustible willpower. Even in his toughest moments during his cancer treatments, Daichi fought with unyielding strength of will because of the ones he loved.
Daichi was a handsome, outgoing, pure, and genuine person. He was a friend to many and kind to all. He was nothing but good, one of a kind.
Daichi is preceded in death by his father, Randall Reust. He is survived by Keiko Reust; Ben Reust; Emma Reust and Nora Reust; Anastasia Reust; Emylee Harjo; William and Michelle Reust; Michael Thompson; Kimberly Cole, and many cousins, friends, and loved ones.
A time of visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 18, 2024 from 6:00 - 8:00 pm, at Tulsa Caskets + Cremation, 5424 S Memorial Dr., Tulsa, Oklahoma 74145.

I met Daichi at Byrd Middle School (now Memorial Junior High). I never got to know him very well, personally, but I knew him through mutual friends. He was always so polite and kind with a soft-spoken joy and a beautiful smile. I see that same smile on his beautiful children, whom he so obviously adored. I wish peace and comfort to his family during what must be an impossibly hard time. - Sara Davis
Daichi will be greatly missed. His Broken Arrow FedEx family misses him dearly and will remember him most for how much he loved his girls and how much dedicated he was as a manager. - Jasmine Penny
I never met Daichi but remember when his Uncle Mike, who was a teacher where I taught, announced that he had become an uncle of an amazing baby boy. I am so sorry for your loss. - Kathy Daake
I feel sorry for Daichi. The first time I met him, he was a baby 5 months old. At that time, I thought I had never seen such a beautiful baby in my life. Every time I met him, it was interesting. When he was little, he always said, "Let's go outside!" He was a curious child. One time, he asked me, "Why don't you speak English like your mother?" Ouch! He always liked to climb on the table. Like a kitten. One time, when Keiko and Daichi came to Kim's house, Daichi left his favorite purple dinosaur stuffed animal, "Barney," somewhere in the house. At that time, he loved watching the TV show "Barney and Friends." He would watch it while holding his purple dinosaur stuffed animal. I remember us desperately trying to find the stuffed animal. One time, when Sean and I visited your house, Daichi was sitting on the side of the road looking at the cloudy sky. His face was frightened. Randy was beside him and told him about Daichi. Randy told us why Daichi was so upset. It was because they had seen the movie Twister. He was a great warrior. He had a strong heart and a great spirit.
He really did his best.
He believed in his future and kept fighting. He was a great warrior. He never gave up the fight until the end. Because he wanted to embrace his beloved family and see their smiles again and again.
I believe he was able to get this far thanks to the understanding, cooperation, and unstinting love of Emily, Archie, Ben, and Keiko who were by his side.
I pray that his soul may rest in peace. - Noriyo and Shawn Barnes
I met Daichai in Tulsa. I interviewed with him. I had never met anyone quite like him. He was the age of my children who were also having children at the same time. He was the best boss I ever had. I even followed him to Broken Arrow fed ex. He had a feeling of home about him. We talked about any and everything. I will forever be changed by his kindness. I often said to him to be sure and let his parents know that they had nailed it. That the son they had raised was quite the young man. Any parent would be pleased. I adored him and his girls and loved them as if they were my own. It was certainly my pleasure to know you Daichai -doo(I called him) you are already missed. Always in my heart!! I'm a better person from knowing you. - Sincerely Angie Linduff
I was shocked and deeply saddened to learn of Daichi's passing. I had the good fortune of having Daichi as a teammate and friend in our youth baseball days.
A fun story I remember about Daichi was when Daichi, myself, and a number of our own teammates held our own home run derby over the summer. In a similar moment to one in the movie "The Sandlot" where the character Benny "the jet" Rodriguez hits a baseball so hard the cover comes off the ball, Daichi hit a baseball so hard he broke an aluminum baseball bat!
My love and condolences to his immediate family and friends. I will always remember Daichi for the big smile and tremendous positive energy he always seemed to have. - Sean Kahl
It’s not to often that in every single circumstance someone can always make your day brighter, Daichi always had a smile on his face and that was what I admired most about him forever missed - Tim Bowers
I’m so sorry to hear of Diachi's passing. I worked with him at go puff downtown. He always had a smile on his face, nice to work with. - Amanda Johnson
