Cynthia “Cindy” Dawn Fairchild

January 30, 1965- September 23, 2025

Cindy Fairchild loved her family, friends, music, and nature.  She enjoyed being around her birds and cats and working in her garden.  She was married to Herman “Wes” Wesley Fairchild for 40 great years and was always by his side.  Together they went on many vacations, attended concerts, worked on their property, and owned businesses.  Cynthia Dawn Fairchild, of Sand Springs, Oklahoma, fought cancer fiercely for five years and went home to be with the Lord on September 23, 2025.

Cindy was born in Shawnee, Oklahoma on January 30, 1965 to Tharvel Odell Sanders, Jr. and Ida Pearl Beck Sanders who raised her in Shawnee with her two brothers and sister.  In 1981, her father took a new position with Smithco that required a move to Sand Springs, Oklahoma.  Cindy attended Charles Page High School for two years, graduating in 1983.  After graduation, she would go on to work at the Junior High School, and later, Whirlpool and Fabricut.

Cindy met the love of her life, Wes Fairchild, in the summer of 1983.  Cindy’s mom was having car trouble and Wes was known for his ability to fix cars, so her mom asked Wes to take a look at her car.  When Wes arrived, he found someone else was working on the car, as had been arranged by Cindy.  This became an inside joke for them throughout their marriage, but this meeting was the start of their journey together.  She only had eyes for him, and he had found his brown-eyed girl.  After dating for two years, they were married on April 20, 1985 in Sand Springs at True Baptist Church with Cindy’s uncle, Bobby Beck, officiating.

Cindy and Wes moved to their new home in the years after the flood of 1985, after finding some available land close to the street they each lived on while in high school.  This allowed them to stay close with their parents, siblings, and extended families.  After finishing their new home, they added a pool, shop, and gardens for further enjoyment.  They also operated several businesses together from their home, including a lawn maintenance company and Reel Unique Custom Rod Racks.  Family was important to them, and their home also hosted many holiday celebrations and family events.

Cindy always had a soft spot for God’s creations.  She treated each of her cats, birds, dogs, and fish over the years like family.  At the time of her passing, she was a beloved pet mom to Simba, Sassy, Biscuits, Oreo, Shadow, Feather, and Valentine.  She was especially close to Simba, who followed her everywhere and was a constant source of comfort and joy to her.

Cindy made friends with so many people, most recently forming friendships with those that were part of her Fabricut family.  She was grateful and blessed to count Colleen Heinig, Leslie Luong, Kathy Jenkins, Dolly Christian, and Chu Lo among her friends at Fabricut.  The family also wishes to recognize the kindness, thoughtfulness, and generosity from Fabricut during our time of loss.

Cindy was employed at Fabricut at the time of her passing and enjoyed her role there which allowed her to use her creativity, attention to detail, and pride in delivering quality work.  Cindy worked at Fabricut for 13 years and loved the challenges her job provided and comradery of her co-workers.

Everyone who knew Cindy knew how much she loved music, pets, her garden, and embroidery.  She went to many concerts, including Journey and had planned to attend Aerosmith last year.  Attending Trans-Siberian Orchestra with Wes many times is a special memory, as this was part of their Christmas tradition.  Cindy could always be counted on having a cat nearby when she was home.  She enjoyed feeding them, playing with and holding them.  Her love of cats was always evident by her pictures she posted online and the many cat figurines she had at home.  Outside, her attention to detail and creativity were displayed in her garden.  She always kept her garden neat and flourishing.  Embroidery was another avenue for Cindy to use the creativity God gave her.  She loved being able to create new things and enjoyed the challenge of using different materials and new images to bring a special request to fruition.

Cindy was a loving, faithful wife who worked hard and loved her family.  Her dedication to Wes and the life they built together is admired and respected.  She took such pride in working hard in every situation, which was reflected in her production at work and in the home she kept for her family and pets.  Her memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved Cindy.

Cindy was preceded in death by her parents, Odell and Ida Sanders; sister, Anita Hart; brother, Gary Sanders.
